In May, voters in Islington will be asked to elect their councillors for the next four years.

The Conservatives have a track record fighting hard on local issues. For example, the treatment of leaseholders on the Tremlett Grove Estate.

The Conservatives also have a significant contribution to make at Borough level, and there are three key strands to this:

  • Better care for the frail elderly, vulnerable children and people with long-term disabilities. The Government recently announced the Better Care Fund, worth at least £5.9 million to Islington Council, to spend jointly with the National Health Service.
  • Less red tape for business, in order to stimulate local jobs. Fairness for leaseholders in respect of maintenance bills and prompt service for tenants.
